Jordan Howard, aka "Livefromthecity", is an American performer, songwriter, and producer from Pittsburgh, PA. He sites PartyNextDoor as the influence for his name, after hearing his song "Belong To The City", but the name gained a different meaning as his career advanced. His other musical influences include Drake, Kid Cudi, PNB Rock and Travis Scott . He began gaining a local buzz in 2016 by releasing a slew of projects for free on his SoundCloud page, including his crowd favorite “Black Girl Magic”. Also in 2016 he was recognized in the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette’s Hip-hop showcase. In 2019, he joined Driving While Black Records and released his debut mixtape, "Lightwork” to critical acclaim from Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, PIttsburgh City Paper and many other local media outlets. This project went on to solidify Livefromthecity as a household name in Pittsburgh’s hip-hop scene and he began to be a much sought after performer known for his high energy stage presence. Later on that same year he would release his single “Whoa!” which included the B-side “Price Too High”. The track went on to be a national success, becoming his first song to reach over 10,000 Spotify streams and remains his highest streamed solo song to-date. In addition to these solo releases he would also handle production and songwriting on Driving While Black’s compilation album, "Support Black Business". When the world shutdown due to the COVID-19 pandemic Live released his Bandcamp-exclusive mixtape “Gatman Beyond” but took his time away from performing to become a better producer. This would lead to production credits on labelmate JM The Poet’s debut album “Deja Vu”, Jordan Montgomery’s sophomore LP “Thank You 4 Ur Purchase But We R Not for $ale” and Brittney Chantele’s “Speaking With Swords”. The post-pandemic music industry saw Livefromthecity return to the stage to open arms from the Pittsburgh music scene as well as beyond with shows in Los Angeles, Philadelphia, and Atlanta. He is currently working on his next mixtape titled “God As My Witness”, which is due in April of 2024. He has already released his street EP, “Scoundrel” and two street singles “Parking Lot” and “Heavy” to build the buzz for his upcoming release.
